Stone Foam Stone Shield is a colourless and penetrating, high performance impregnator which protects honed and rough surfaces against oil, grease and water based pollution.
USES
- Stone Shield has been specifically developed to protect mineral based outdoor walls and facades from water based pollution. Due to its outstanding steamdiffusion performance, this sealer is ideal for sandstone buildings (old and new) and any other type of stone/mineral based materials such as limestone and concrete.
The use of Stone Shield considerably reduces the amount of maintenance work required on stone buildings resulting in an unchanged look for many years. The shield reduces the amount of moisture on the surface & therefore minimises the growth of mould & algae as well as discoloration due to air pollution.
- It performs exceptionally well on honed to rough materials.
PROPERTIES
- Time saving one step application - no residue after application!
- Stone Foam Stone Shield is based on the latest technology from Germany and consists of a mixture of organic and inorganic anti-adhesives in a water based solution.
The surface treatment does not affect any steam diffusion of the treated materials and has the top rating in Europe for active moisture permeability i.e., being able to breathe so there is no build-up of subsurface moisture (EN ISO 7783-2, Classification I, Sp<0.14m).
- The applied product is UV-resistant (California Test - 24,000 hours or 5 years of sunshine).
- Stone Shield has perfect water repellence with no negative impact on the look or consistency of the stone.
- Stone Shield is not affected by chlorine or salt water making it ideal for pool areas while ensuring that once treated, the surface remains unchanged.
- The ultimate protection against salt attack on sandstone.

APPLICATION
Always test product on a small area first and wait 24 hours before treating a larger area.
- Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free of residues.
- The product is to be applied undiluted and should be shaken or stirred before applying (depending on size of container).
- To ensure maximum effect, generously saturate the surface with product using a clean brush, roller or spray device (depending on the size of the area to be covered). Saturation is reached when a thin wet film of sealer is visible on the surface.
- If applying to vertical surfaces, e.g., outdoor walls, ensure that product is applied from bottom to top in order to avoid pre-sealing through spills.
- The initial drying time of the product is 12 hours. The full strength and protection is reached after 24 hours.
- To maintain the treated surface, remove dirt & dust with water and neutral, non-aggressive cleaners. For large areas, a pressure washer or steam cleaner may be used.
- For resealing, clean the surface well and apply a new coat.
- Second and third coat maybe applied.
PRECAUTIONS
- Do not use cleaners containing solvents, alcohols or those which are acid or alkaline based. Any abrasive cleaners or sponges will also damage the protection.
- Only apply when the surface temperature is between 5°C and 30°C.
- If applying by spray unit, ensure that appropriate protective gear is worn in order to avoid inhalation of product.
- Re-sealing may be required after intensive cleaning or surface damage.
